Mini Split Performance Starts with Correct Sizing and Placement

A system that is too small cannot maintain comfortable temperatures during a Lehigh Valley heat wave or the coldest stretch of a Central Pennsylvania winter. A system that is oversized short-cycles, reduces humidity control, and wears faster. Getting it right requires more than calculating square footage.

Haller’s NATE-certified technicians serve homeowners across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. We assess your home’s layout, insulation, existing infrastructure, and the real seasonal demands of this region before recommending a system. Every installation is backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee.

How Mini Split Installation Works with Haller

Haller follows a proven installation process to ensure your new mini split is sized correctly and performs exactly as it should from day one.

We start by evaluating your space, comfort needs, and energy goals to determine the best mini split solution for your home. In older homes throughout Lancaster County, wall construction, electrical service capacity, and available mounting locations vary in ways that affect both the unit selection and where indoor and outdoor components can be placed. Our team designs a system layout that maximizes efficiency while providing targeted comfort where you need it most.

We help you choose the right mini split system based on performance, features, and budget. We give you clear pricing before any work begins. If your existing electrical service requires modification to support the new system correctly, we explain that as part of the recommendation rather than after the fact.

Our NATE-certified technicians install your indoor and outdoor units with precision, following all safety standards and manufacturer guidelines. We minimize disruption to your home while ensuring every component is properly connected and secured. Once installation is complete, we thoroughly test your system and walk you through how to use and maintain your new mini split before we leave.

Shane serviced my water heater system. He was professional and prompt.
Very professional, pleasant, and efficient. I hope he is sent on my next service.
The technician, Adam, was excellent. He explained what the problems were, and showed me the problems on my outdoor fan. He was very patient and polite. I am hard of hearing, so he spoke louder. He fixed everything, and thought of solutions that had not been mentioned to me before – like using a 2" filter instead of a 1" filter to possibly cut down on filter changes (since I cannot change them myself). He also explained how the $24/month plan worked, and set me up for that when I decided to go with it. He answered all my questions. Adam is an excellent Haller employee.
Jeff was very professional and did a great job!
Kirtis showed up on time and was totally prepared with his single tool pack. Went up to the unit in the attic (not an easy access) and determined there was a short in the system. Down and outside to the other unit where he located the deficient part. Had a replacement part in his truck and installed it and AC was humming. Fast efficient and friendly. I will call them again.
Thank you Jason, I appreciate your time and taking care of this.

Signs It Is Time for a New Mini Split

A mini split system is built to provide efficient, reliable comfort, but like any HVAC system, it will not last forever. Recognizing the signs of a failing or outdated unit helps you avoid unexpected breakdowns.

Mini splits typically last 20 or more years with proper maintenance. In Central and Eastern Pennsylvania, where a system runs through both hot, humid summers and cold winters, systems that are not maintained regularly accumulate wear faster. If yours is showing any of the following signs, replacement on your schedule is better than a failure mid-season.

If certain rooms are too hot while others stay too cold, your mini split may no longer be distributing air properly. That often signals declining performance or a system that was never correctly sized for the space. Homeowners in Bethlehem who notice this pattern heading into summer are typically dealing with a system that has hit its limit.

An unexpected increase in energy costs can point to an inefficient system working harder than it should to maintain comfort. Older mini splits lose efficiency over time, and in a region with Pennsylvania’s four distinct seasons, that inefficiency shows up on the bill year-round.

Needing repeated repairs is a clear sign your system is nearing the end of its useful life. A mini split in Altoona that cannot make it through a full year without a service call has likely reached the point where continued investment does not make financial sense. Upgrading to a new unit provides more reliable performance and eliminates the repair cycle.

Strange sounds or persistent odors from your system should not be ignored. These can indicate internal wear, electrical issues, or buildup that has progressed beyond what cleaning resolves. When that is the case, replacement is typically the more reliable answer.

Benefits of Installing a New Mini Split

A correctly sized and properly installed mini split system operates efficiently, quietly, and reliably through every season Pennsylvania puts it through. That is exactly what it should do.

These are the practical differences a correct installation makes compared to an undersized, aging, or improperly configured unit.

New mini split systems are designed to use less energy while delivering consistent heating and cooling. In Lancaster and across the region, homeowners who upgrade from aging units to current high-efficiency systems typically see a meaningful reduction in monthly energy costs without sacrificing comfort.

Mini splits allow you to control temperatures in individual rooms or areas independently. You can maintain different temperatures in different spaces, reduce energy use in unoccupied rooms, and ensure everyone in the household stays comfortable without conditioning the entire home uniformly.

Today’s mini split systems operate with minimal noise and fewer mechanical issues than older units. With proper installation from Haller, you get dependable comfort without the disruptions of loud or inefficient equipment running in the background.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mini Split Installation

How long does a mini split installation take?

Most mini split installations can be completed in a single day, depending on the number of zones and the complexity of the setup. Multi-zone systems may take longer, but our team will give you a clear timeline before work begins.

How do I know what size mini split system I need?

The right system size depends on your home’s square footage, layout, insulation, and the heating and cooling demands of Pennsylvania’s four-season climate. Our team performs a detailed evaluation to recommend a properly sized system rather than applying a standard formula.

Can a mini split heat and cool my home?

Yes. Mini split systems provide both heating and cooling, making them a versatile year-round comfort solution for individual rooms, additions, or entire homes.

Will installing a mini split require major changes to my home?

Mini splits are less invasive than traditional HVAC systems because they do not require ductwork. Installation typically involves small wall penetrations and strategic placement of indoor and outdoor units.

How often does a mini split need maintenance?

Regular maintenance is recommended at least once a year to keep your system running efficiently and reliably. Routine service helps extend the life of your system and prevents unexpected issues from developing between seasons.
