After a heavy rain, our sump pump failed and water backed up into our basement. Within hours of my call, Haller sent out a plumber (Trenton) who diagnosed the problem which required the installation of new PVC pipe. Trent came back the next day, completed the job promptly, and made very little mess considering he had to chisel into the floor and cut out a small piece of Sheetrock. The sump pump system has been working perfectly ever since.

Sump Pump Repair Services

A sump pump that is not working properly is a problem you need to know about before the next heavy rain.

Haller provides fast, reliable sump pump repair services across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania to restore your system and protect your home from water damage.

A faulty float switch can prevent your sump pump from turning on when needed. We repair or replace the switch so the system activates properly as water levels rise.

If your sump pump is not running at all, the cause could be motor failure or electrical problems. Our team identifies the root cause and restores power so your system operates reliably.

Blocked or frozen discharge lines can stop water from draining away from your home, which is a common issue during Central Pennsylvania winters. We clear obstructions and ensure proper flow to keep your system working efficiently.

Debris or mechanical issues can cause the pump to become stuck or jammed. We address the problem and get your sump pump back to smooth, consistent operation.

If your home has a battery backup or secondary sump pump and it is not working properly, you lose protection during the exact conditions you installed it for. We repair backup systems so they are ready when the primary pump needs support.

Sump Pump Replacement Services

Haller offers expert sump pump replacement services to ensure your home stays protected from water damage.

If your current system is no longer performing as it should, our team recommends and installs a reliable replacement that meets your home’s needs.

Sump pumps have a limited lifespan and become less reliable over time. Replacing an aging unit prevents unexpected failures when you need it most.

If your sump pump needs repeated repairs, it may be more cost-effective to replace it. A new system provides dependable performance and reduces the risk of ongoing issues.

A sump pump that cannot keep up during storms puts your home at risk for flooding. Upgrading to a more powerful or efficient unit ensures better protection during high-demand conditions.

Grinding noises, excessive vibration, or inconsistent operation are signs your sump pump may be failing. Replacing the unit restores reliable operation and gives you peace of mind.

If your current setup does not include a backup system, replacement is a good time to add one. A backup sump pump protects your home during power outages or primary pump failure.

Sump Pump Maintenance

Haller’s sump pump maintenance services keep your system running reliably when you need it most.

A sump pump that sits unused between heavy rain events can develop issues that only show up the moment the system is under demand. Consistent maintenance delivers the following benefits:

Regular testing confirms the pump and float switch will respond the moment water rises in the pit.

Routine cleaning and inspection keep the pump running smoothly, extending its usable lifespan beyond what a neglected unit would deliver.

Small issues caught during maintenance do not turn into flooded basements during heavy rain or spring snowmelt.

Testing your battery backup or secondary pump confirms it is ready to take over if the primary pump ever loses power or fails.

Professional Sump Pump Installation

Haller provides professional sump pump installation services to help protect your home from water damage and basement flooding.

Whether you are installing a system for the first time or upgrading your current setup, our team ensures your sump pump is properly sized, installed, and ready to perform when it matters most.

If your home does not have a sump pump, you are at risk for water intrusion during heavy rain or rising groundwater. Installing one adds an important layer of protection for your foundation and belongings.

Recurring dampness or past flooding are strong indicators that a sump pump is needed. A new system keeps your basement dry and prevents future damage.

Before investing in a finished basement, it is important to protect it from potential water issues. Installing a sump pump safeguards your new space and everything in it.

Severe weather can quickly lead to water problems without proper protection in place. A new sump pump gives you confidence that your home is prepared for heavy rainfall and unexpected conditions.

Severe storms that produce heavy rain also produce power outages, which is when a primary sump pump needs a backup the most. Installing a battery backup or water-powered secondary pump keeps your basement dry even when the power is out.

Sump Pump FAQs

How often should a sump pump be serviced?

Sump pumps should be inspected and maintained at least once a year, ideally before spring when snowmelt and spring rain put the heaviest demand on the system. Regular service ensures your system is ready to perform during heavy rain or rising groundwater.

How long does a sump pump last?

Most sump pumps last 7 to 10 years, depending on usage and maintenance. In areas of Central Pennsylvania with high water tables or frequent runoff, pumps run more often and may reach the shorter end of that range.

What are signs my sump pump needs repair?

Common signs include unusual noises, failure to turn on, constant running, or water not draining properly. If you notice any of these issues, it is best to schedule service right away before the next storm tests the system.

Do I need a backup sump pump?

A backup sump pump provides extra protection during power outages or primary pump failure. It is a smart investment for homes in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania given the severe weather that can take out power and produce heavy rain at the same time.

Can I install or repair a sump pump myself?

Some minor maintenance can be done by homeowners, but installation and repairs are best left to licensed plumbers. Proper sizing, discharge routing, and electrical connections all affect whether the system actually protects your home when it matters.
