We just had a service check done on our AC unit. Our technician, Jonathan was very courteous and thorough.
Did an excellent job and fixed the problem in a short time frame. I would
definitely call again for yearly maintenance or any other HVAC issues
Triangle installed our small commercial system in 2016 and we've been experiencing failures nearly every year since. We kept trying to get them to send somebody to root cause the system for the failures, but every time they would just come out and replace the same blown fuse or a wire and send us a bill for ~$1000. We tried communicating our need for a real solution with the main office, but it just sent us to a call center in California. Finally gave up on them and had someone from Haller come out to look at the system, and on the first trip they found multiple errors in the system set up, fixed those, and sent us a bill for about 1/3 the cost. At least the positive here is that we found our new, go to HVAC company, with Haller. Thank you, Hunter!
Customer service contact,In a word Wonderful. Angie is the best. Service Tech Chris who did maintenance professional, knowledgeable and friendly. They enhance the the Company. Kudos to them.
As far as Brayden.i give him a 5 star review..
Nevin did an outstanding job diagnosing and solving a problem with thermostats in our HVAC system. He was patient and professional throughout the service visit.
Late night emergency repairs; but, made the proper fix quickly and efficiently. Much appreciated. Thanks

Common Tankless Water Heater Repairs Our Team Handle

Tankless water heater failures in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania homes often trace back to hard water scaling, ignition system wear, and sensor failures that compound over years of continuous demand.

Our technicians are equipped to diagnose and repair the full range of tankless water heater issues accurately, regardless of make or model.

In Central and Eastern Pennsylvania, where water hardness driven by limestone geology routinely exceeds levels that accelerate mineral deposit formation, heat exchanger scaling is the most common cause of tankless water heater degradation. Scale buildup reduces heat transfer efficiency, triggers error codes, and eventually causes the unit to shut down on overheat protection. We descale the heat exchanger using the correct procedure for the unit and assess whether the scaling has caused underlying damage to the exchanger itself.

A tankless unit that fires briefly and then shuts down, or that fails to ignite at all, usually has an igniter, flame sensor, or gas valve issue. We test each component in sequence, identify the failure point, and replace the affected part so the unit lights reliably and holds flame through a full demand cycle.

Tankless water heaters require a minimum flow rate to activate. A flow sensor that is fouled with mineral deposits or has failed electrically causes the unit to not recognize demand and produce no hot water even when the gas and ignition systems are functioning. We clean or replace the flow sensor and verify activation at the correct flow threshold.

A pressure relief valve that is weeping or discharging on a tankless unit indicates the system is reaching pressures it should not. We test the valve, assess what is driving the pressure condition, and make the repair to bring the system back into safe operating range.

Improper venting or a blocked exhaust causes a tankless unit to shut down on safety lockout to prevent combustion gas from entering the home. We inspect the full vent run, identify the restriction or configuration issue, and correct it so the unit operates safely and efficiently.

Error codes that persist after the obvious causes have been ruled out often point to a failed temperature sensor, a control board communication error, or a wiring connection that has deteriorated. We diagnose at the component level and replace what is failing rather than treating the unit as a black box.

Why Neighbors Count on Haller for Tankless Water Heater Repairs

Diagnosing a tankless water heater correctly requires familiarity with the system’s error code logic, the regional water conditions that affect it, and the mechanical components that most commonly fail in this climate.

Homeowners throughout Central and Eastern Pennsylvania count on Haller because we bring all three to every service call.

Tankless water heater repairs involve both plumbing connections and gas or electrical systems. Haller’s team includes licensed plumbers and NATE-certified technicians trained to work on the full system, not just one side of it.

Haller is a BBB Accredited Business with more than four decades of service across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. That standing reflects a long record of accurate diagnosis, quality repairs, and fair treatment of customers.

The limestone geology of the Lehigh Valley and the Susquehanna watershed produces water that scales tankless heat exchangers faster than manufacturers’ standard maintenance intervals anticipate. Our technicians understand how to assess scaling severity in regional conditions and what that means for repair versus replacement decisions.

We tell you what the repair will cost before we begin. No surprises when the job is done.

Home Comfort Club membership includes annual inspections, priority scheduling, and exclusive savings across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. Ask about the Club when you schedule your repair.

Should You Repair or Replace Your Tankless Water Heater?

Tankless water heaters last 15 to 20 years with proper maintenance. Most failures within that window are worth repairing. A few conditions change that calculation.

Haller gives homeowners an honest assessment so the decision makes sense for their home and their actual hot water demand.

Descaling restores most heat exchangers when the maintenance interval has not been stretched too long. When scaling has been left unaddressed long enough that the exchanger walls have been damaged or the flow passages are blocked beyond what a descaling procedure can clear, the heat exchanger itself needs replacement. Depending on the unit, exchanger replacement can approach the cost of a new unit, which changes the repair-or-replace math.

Tankless water heater venting requirements have been updated over the years, and some older installations in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania homes do not meet current standards. When a repair requires a permit and the existing venting configuration fails inspection, bringing the installation into compliance is part of the work scope. Our technicians will tell you upfront if that applies to your unit.

A unit that has had ignition components replaced and continues to fail to light reliably may have a gas pressure issue upstream, a control board that is no longer regulating the ignition sequence correctly, or a heat exchanger condition that is causing the unit to shut down on thermal protection before the repair is apparent. When ignition problems persist across multiple service visits, a broader assessment of the unit’s condition is warranted.

A tankless water heater approaching or past its expected lifespan that requires a significant repair is rarely the best investment. Newer units are more efficient, carry current warranties, and are available in configurations better suited to the hard water conditions common in this region. Our technicians will give you an honest read on whether repair or replacement serves you better over the next decade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my tankless water heater go cold in the middle of a shower?

A tankless unit that starts hot and then drops to cold mid-shower is usually experiencing one of two problems. The first is a flow sensor or activation issue that causes the unit to cycle off when demand fluctuates slightly. The second is a heat exchanger that has been scaled enough by Central and Eastern Pennsylvania’s hard water to lose heat transfer efficiency and trigger thermal shutdown under sustained load. Both have distinct fixes, and the right diagnosis determines which repair is needed.

What does it mean when my tankless water heater displays an error code?

Error codes are the unit’s way of telling you which system has detected a problem. Common codes point to ignition failure, exhaust blockage, temperature sensor faults, or flow issues. The code alone does not always identify the root cause, which is why a technician needs to assess the full system rather than simply replacing the component the code references. Our technicians are trained on the diagnostic logic of the major tankless brands we see throughout Central and Eastern Pennsylvania.

Does hard water damage a tankless water heater?

Yes, and in this region it does so faster than the equipment manuals typically account for. The limestone geology of the Lehigh Valley and the Susquehanna watershed produces water with hardness levels that accelerate mineral deposit formation on heat exchanger surfaces. Left unaddressed, this scaling reduces efficiency, increases energy consumption, and eventually causes the unit to fail. Annual descaling is a reasonable maintenance interval for most Central and Eastern Pennsylvania households on municipal water, and more frequent service may be warranted on well water with higher mineral content.

Why is my tankless water heater making a rumbling or knocking noise?

Rumbling or knocking from a tankless unit during operation usually indicates scale buildup on the heat exchanger creating localized hotspots and turbulent flow. It is the tankless equivalent of the kettling sound a scaled boiler makes. The noise itself is a warning that scaling has progressed enough to affect performance. Getting the unit descaled before the scaling hardens further keeps the repair straightforward.

Can I repair a tankless water heater myself?

Component-level repairs on a tankless water heater involve gas lines, electrical connections, and sealed water circuits. These are not tasks for a homeowner without licensed trade experience. Beyond the safety concern, an incorrect repair can damage the control board or heat exchanger in ways that make the eventual professional repair more expensive. Our technicians carry the diagnostic tools and replacement components to complete most repairs in a single visit.
