How to Schedule Your Shower Replacement

Scheduling your shower replacement with Haller is straightforward and designed around your convenience.

We keep the process clear from your first call to the day your new shower is ready to use.

Call us or reach out online and our staff will gather details about your current shower, including the nature of the problem, the age of the installation, and whether there are signs of water damage behind or beneath the enclosure. We will get your consultation on the calendar at a time that works for you, whether you are in Allentown, Lancaster, York, or anywhere across our service area.

A licensed plumber visits your home to assess the existing shower and the condition of the surrounding structure. For shower replacement specifically, this means looking beyond the visible enclosure to check the pan, the drain assembly, the valve and supply connections, and any indication of water intrusion into the wall cavity or subfloor. Homes in Harrisburg, Bethlehem, and Lancaster that were built or renovated decades ago often have plumbing configurations that require a closer look before any scope of work is set.

We walk you through replacement options based on your bathroom’s layout, your existing plumbing configuration, and what makes sense structurally for your home. You will receive upfront pricing and a clear explanation of what the work involves. There is no pressure to decide on the spot.

Our licensed plumbers remove the old enclosure, address any water damage or subfloor issues uncovered during demolition, and install the new shower with a focus on watertight connections at every point. Before we leave, we run the system, verify the drain is flowing correctly, check supply connections for leaks under pressure, and confirm the enclosure is properly sealed. A shower replacement is only finished when nothing is moving water where it should not be.

Benefits of Shower Replacement

Shower replacement is not just a repair. It is an opportunity to get the right enclosure, the right valve setup, and the right configuration for how your household actually uses the space.

Haller’s licensed plumbers work with homeowners across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania to match the replacement to the home, not just the opening in the wall.

Shower replacement opens up options that a patch or repair does not. Alcove showers fit standard three-wall configurations common in Allentown, Bethlehem, and Lancaster homes and accept prefab surrounds or custom tile equally well. Walk-in and curbless shower designs eliminate the step-over threshold entirely, which matters for accessibility and is increasingly common in York and Harrisburg bathroom renovations. Neo-angle enclosures work well in corner configurations where space is limited. Our plumbers assess your bathroom layout and existing rough-in before recommending an enclosure type, because not every configuration works in every space.

An aging shower valve that cannot hold temperature or takes time to respond is a daily frustration. Shower replacement includes new valve installation, and modern pressure-balancing valves prevent sudden temperature swings when other fixtures in the home draw water. Thermostatic valves go further, holding a precise set temperature regardless of pressure changes and allowing separate control of volume and temperature. Showerhead configuration, including fixed, handheld, and multi-function options, is part of the replacement conversation as well.

Modern showerheads and low-flow fixtures use significantly less water than older equipment without a meaningful reduction in performance. For households across Lancaster County and the Lehigh Valley where water and sewer costs factor into monthly utility bills, replacing an aging shower with current WaterSense-rated fixtures reduces consumption from day one.

Curbless shower designs eliminate the trip hazard of a traditional threshold and make the space usable for all members of the household. Anti-scald valve settings protect against burns from sudden temperature spikes. Slip-resistant flooring options and integrated grab bar blocking built into the wall during replacement provide long-term safety features that cannot be added after the fact without tearing the installation apart again.

Why Homeowners Trust Haller for Shower Replacement

Replacing a shower involves more than swapping out the enclosure, and you want a licensed plumbing team that understands what is behind the wall.

Haller has earned the trust of homeowners across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania by treating every job with the care and honesty that a home deserves.

Every shower replacement is performed by Haller’s licensed plumbers, not subcontractors. Our team understands the full scope of what a shower replacement involves, from drain assembly and supply connections to waterproofing and structural assessment.

Haller has been working in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania since 1981. Our plumbers have worked in homes across Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Lancaster, York, and Harrisburg, building a familiarity with the construction styles, plumbing configurations, and infrastructure age ranges common to homes throughout our service area.

Shower replacement is a significant investment, particularly when water damage has extended the scope of work. Haller offers flexible financing for qualified homeowners so you can move forward with the right solution now rather than delaying a repair that is actively damaging your home.

A shower that is leaking into the wall or floor does not wait for business hours. Our team is available around the clock, so if a failure happens overnight or on a weekend in York, Easton, or anywhere across our service area, you are not left managing water damage until Monday morning.

Every replacement follows strict procedures for waterproofing, correct drain slope, and verified supply connections. We do not close out a shower replacement until the installation has been tested under operating conditions and confirmed watertight at every point.

We tell you what we find during the evaluation, what the work involves, and what it costs before we begin. If demolition uncovers water damage that changes the scope, you hear about it immediately. No surprises.

In an out very professional
Don Humenik was our technician. He came with another technician, I think his name was Larry though did not get a last name. I could not ask for a more professional, helpful and friendly experience. We just moved into our house which had one prepaid maintenance visit left from the previous owners. They honored that last maintenance check and so there was no fee to us. That says a lot about how they do business. Because of that, and reinforced by Don and Larry, I signed onto their yearly maintenance agreement. I feel like I finally have a trustworthy, competent, and fairly priced company to work with. Other companies I’ve dealt with in the past have hit one or two of those, maybe good to work with but really expensive. I feel like Haller hits all the marks.

Time to Replace Your Shower? Look for These Signs

Knowing when a shower has reached the end of its useful life can help you get ahead of the water damage that a failing enclosure causes before it reaches the subfloor and framing of your home.

Grout that keeps cracking, caulk that will not stay sealed, or a pan that has been patched more than once are signs the enclosure has run its course. Repeated repairs that do not hold are the shower telling you the underlying structure has shifted or degraded beyond what surface fixes can address.

Cracks in the pan or surround, discoloration that does not clean, or soft spots in the floor around the shower base are indicators of water moving where it should not be. In Lancaster, Bethlehem, and Harrisburg homes with older construction, these signs often mean the damage has been developing longer than it appears on the surface.

Mold or persistent dampness on the wall or floor outside the shower enclosure points to a breach in the waterproofing. Once water is getting through the tile or surround and into the wall cavity, the problem is no longer cosmetic. Replacement is the only way to address what is behind the surface.

Shower enclosures installed without proper waterproofing behind the tile, without correct drain slope, or with supply connections that have never been fully reliable have a shortened useful life. Across Allentown, York, and Easton, older renovations that cut corners on waterproofing show up eventually. Replacement on your terms is better than waiting for a failure that forces the decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I should repair or replace my shower?

If the issue is isolated, such as a failed caulk joint or a single cracked tile, a repair is usually the right call. But if the pan is cracked, the surround is separating from the wall, or there are signs of moisture behind the enclosure, repair is unlikely to solve the underlying problem. In older homes across the Lehigh Valley and Lancaster County, where shower enclosures may have been installed decades ago without modern waterproofing standards, replacement is often the more honest long-term answer. Our plumbers will tell you what they find and give you a straight recommendation.

How long does a shower replacement take?

Most shower replacements are completed within one to two days, depending on the condition of the existing installation and whether water damage to the subfloor or wall framing requires additional work before the new enclosure goes in. We walk you through the expected timeline during your consultation and update you immediately if demolition reveals anything that changes the scope.

What type of shower should I choose for my home?

The right replacement depends on your bathroom’s layout, your existing plumbing rough-in, and how the space is used. Prefabricated surrounds install faster and work well in straightforward configurations. Tile installations offer more flexibility for non-standard dimensions and longer-term durability when waterproofed correctly. Our plumbers assess your specific situation and walk you through options that make sense for your home rather than defaulting to whatever is simplest to install.

Will shower replacement uncover other plumbing problems?

It can, and we tell you immediately if it does. Demolition sometimes reveals corroded supply lines, drain assemblies that were never properly connected, or subfloor damage that needs to be addressed before the new shower goes in. This is more common in older homes across Allentown, Harrisburg, and Lancaster where original plumbing infrastructure has been in place for decades. Haller’s policy is full transparency. You know what we find and what it costs to fix it before any additional work begins.
